Alice was one of the last students of the legendary Russian conducting pedagogue Ilya Musin from 1997-1999, and continued her studies with Leonid Korchmar until 2000. She is passionate about passing on the St Petersburg Musin School to new generations of conductors.
'Alice Farnham just made a triumphant debut at the Mariinsky Theatre (2013). I can say that Alice Farnham is an excellent exemplar of this great (Musin) school of conducting. She conducts in a manner that is fluid, clear, expressive, encouraging the orchestra to sing. It is conducting that moves beyond simple rhythmic organisation and actually guides and shapes the sound of the orchestra'.
Leonid Korchmar - Professor, St. Petersburg Conservatoire Conductor, Mariinsky Theatre
